Renowned high street coffee chain Costa Coffee has been announced as the next outlet to be added to the line-up of retailers at the Clock Tower Retail Park.
The opening was confirmed on April 26th and will be the 8th outlet in the city to open. The old Britvic site in Essex will be transformed into the Clock Tower Retail Park by November 2017.
The retail park in Chelmsford will also be home to various shopping outlets, including SCS, Aldi and Marks & Spencer Simply Food.
More than a third of the land at the Clock Tower Retail Park has been pre-let by developers, a total of 39,000 sq ft of 90,000.
The regeneration proposals will bring the site back into active use by creating a mixed-use development of modern, high quality retail and industrial units.
The development site covers 11 acres and is located just off Westway, approximately 1 ½ miles to the South West of Chelmsford City Centre.
The site, previously occupied by Britvic from 1954, closed in March 2014 and was purchased for redevelopment from Chelmsford City Council.
The proposal features a number of retailers and will create up to 325 new jobs.
The proposed plan states that the retail element will be positioned at the front of the site for ease of using cars, public transport, bicycle and foot traffic. The back of the site will see separate access for delivery vehicles and three industrial units.
The site is expected to be complete by the end of November this year (2017).
