A big birthday party is set to take place at Bond Street shopping centre in Chelmsford – and everyone’s invited!
The city’s newest shopping complex will have its birthday marked in style on Saturday, September 30th, with celebrations throughout the day including entertainment, goody bags and a large glitter cannon to celebrate the day.
Bond Street opened in spectacular style last year, with high-end retailers including Joules, Jack Wills, The White Company and Foyles opening branches in the City, as well as a flagship John Lewis department store. The project cost an incredible £150 million and took 14 years of planning.
Over the last 12 months, lots of new high street retailers have moved into the street, including Hotel Chocolat, Schuh, The North Face and Bravissimo.
Centre managers are preparing for the big party to thank their customers for a fantastic first year. The party will begin at 11am, where shoppers can enjoy a huge parade of dance, music and entertainment. The parade will start in the High Street and move into Bond Street, before finishing the huge party in ‘The Bowl’ opposite John Lewis.
Through the day, customers will be able to enjoy live music, dance shows, magic, face painting and freebies.
The party will finish at 4pm, when a spectacular glitter cannon will be fired over The Bowl for a grand finale, with free goody bags handed out to customers.
The event is thought to attract families, couples and shoppers to enjoy the entertainment on offer, and to celebrate with staff for a fantastic and positive year for Chelmsford’s shopping facilities.
The Chelmsford retail park at the Britvic factory site will be open by Christmas, where shoppers will be able to enjoy shopping in the likes of Dunelm, ScS, M&S Food and Costa. 300 jobs are set to be created for the area, making Chelmsford a hotspot for shopping and eating out.
