If you are looking for something to get yourself out of scrooge-mode and into Christmas-mode, or perhaps you feel like doing something Christmassy this month, we’ve compiled a list of Christmas markets in Essex to get you in the festive mood:

Romford Christmas Market

Where? Market Place, Romford RM1 3ER

When? Wednesday 14th December – Saturday 24th December (9am – 4pm daily)

Romford traders and seasonal traders will be selling everything you need this Christmas, from decorations to food, to gifts and outfits. There will be stalls selling traditional roasted chestnuts and German sausages. There will also be an ice rink there this year, with seasonal craft activities for all the family to enjoy. Abberton Winter Wonderland Weekend

Where? Essex Wildlife Trust Abberton Reservoir, The Rows, Church Rd

When? Saturday 17th December – Sunday 18th December (10.00am – 3.00pm)

There will be plenty of stalls selling Christmas presents, stocking fillers and unique, handmade cards. Santa will be there in his grotto too with a present for you! Entry is free, but a £10 donation is required for visits to Santa. Find out more information here.

St. Albans Christmas Market

Where? St. Albans Cathedral

When? Thursday 24th November – Sunday 18th December

St. Albans is one of the oldest Christmas markets in the UK, dating as far back as the 9th century. The market is German-inspired, held in the grounds of Abbey Cathedral, offering food, drink and arts and crafts to all visitors. The oldest pub in Britain, Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, is just a short walk from the Cathedral, so spend the evening in the warm with a pint or two.

Burnham on Crouch Farmers and Artisan Market

Where? Village Hall, Devonshire Road, Burnham-on-Crouch, CM0 8EF

When? 18th December 2016

Burnham on Crouch’s famers and artisan market will be selling fresh local farm produce, including fresh meat, bread, homemade pies and cakes, honey, fruit and vegetables, fish and other local produce.
